Bathroom Lighting
Since not all bathrooms have windows or skylights, you’ll need to use the lights in the room any time of day or night. There are many reasons for having adequate lighting in the bathroom. Many people take their medications in the room, and you certainly don’t want to take the wrong one because you can’t see well enough. Most accidents involving older adults occur in the bathroom, so a well-lit restroom is of critical importance.
There are plenty of options when it comes to bathroom lighting including vanity lighting, night lighting, lighting in the shower over the bathtub, and many more. So how much overall lighting does your bathroom need? Master and guest bathrooms typically are considered well lit with at least 75 or 100 watts of illumination.
The best way to daylight your bathroom is to have some type of windows or skylights if possible. Natural light is a great option and can also help you save money by not having to turn the lights on during the day. If these are not viable options, you can install a light on a dimmer switch and you may find you only need to turn it on part way during the daytime.
To add a touch of class and make sure you’re able to see in the bathtub, try installing a chandelier or pendant fixture. You can also use indirect up-lighting such as LED or fluorescent light strips on the tops of cabinets. Vanity lighting can also make your bathroom feel more luxurious and make it easier to get ready in the morning or for those nights out.
These are just a few of the lighting options you’ll want to consider when having your bathroom remodeled. For more information, contact Bath Planet NJ at 732-624-6369.
